Teen in court on charge of raping schoolmate
WESTBORO — A local teenager was arraigned in Westborough District
Court yesterday after allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl last week.
Nigel Rowe, 17, of 4223 Homestead Blvd., is charged with one count
of rape. His case was continued to Nov. 10 on $1,000 cash bail.
Judge Vito A. Virzi set conditions for Mr. Rowe's release: He must
wear a GPS monitoring device outside of school, and he must stay
away from the victim and the victim's family. Mr. Rowe and the victim
attend the same school, according to court records.
Judge Virzi allowed a motion by Assistant District Attorney Maura
McCarthy to impound all reports detailing the rape.
Mr. Rowe was arrested Friday, a day after Westborough police received
a report that a 17-year-old girl had been raped. According to police,
the suspect and the victim knew each other.
Detective Sgt. Glenn McLeod, Detectives Gary Hassett and Steven
Tompkins, and Officer LeeAnne Baker did the investigation that led to
Mr. Rowe's arrest.
