Volunteer Services:
Our volunteer services department reflects the value we place
on the vital contribution each volunteer brings to the work
of the Agency. We could not do this important work without
the hard work and efforts of our volunteers. Volunteers who
complete our 45 hour certification training to become Sexual
Assault Counselors contribute their time and skills in supporting
survivors through our 24 hour hotline, medical, police and
court advocacy, and education & outreach efforts. Their
generous gift of time, talent and compassion sustains our
work and enhances our capacity to meet our mission in serving
those whose lives have been impacted by sexual violence.
Here are some of the ways that volunteers make a significant
contribution:
• 24 Hour Hotline shift coverage- telephone support
counseling
• 24 Hour Medical/Police Advocacy - accompaniment at
the hospital and/or police station for survivors and their
significant others with support, resources and referrals
• Court Advocacy – assisting survivors (and their
significant others) navigate their way through the court and
legal systems with support, resources and referrals.
• Outreach events – tabling, education & health
fairs, fundraisers, special focus groups, community collaborations,
fundraising etc.
• Fundraising – help coordinate fund raising events/projects
• Office assistance – administrative support projects.
